Summary
Apollo Atomics builds compact pressurized water reactors that are 40x smaller than conventional nuclear plants. Founded by Assil Halimi, who holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from MIT and worked at Engie, EDF, and other major nuclear operators, and Drew Walker, who previously co-founded an electric boat startup, they solve the problem that existing nuclear takes over a decade to build while new small modular reactors won't be ready until 2035. They redesigned the steam generator to be 20x smaller while using proven light water reactor technology already licensed by the NRC, making their reactors factory-built, truck-transportable, and deployable in under 24 months.
